General Description of the Organization:

IMPACT – Civil Society Research and Development e.V. , founded in Berlin in 2013, is a non-profit civil society organization with offices in Iraq, Turkey and Syria. Civil society support is the core of IMPACT’s mission through long-term and balanced support to individuals and organizations in the conflict and developed countries. IMPACT’s main areas of intervention are capacity building, research, peacebuilding, and diaspora engagement.

Background:

The USG-funded Syrian Civil Society Program aims to support the development and strengthening of civil society organizations in Syria, particularly those working seeking to protect civic space, promote social cohesion, and advance local authority accountability. The program will support the capacity-building of these organizations and provide technical assistance to enable them to effectively engage in advocacy and service provision.

Job purpose:

The Role of the MEAL coordinator will be to maintain day to day coordination of the M&E field activities. This will require continuous contact with field team members and project focal points of partner organizations and sub-grantees. The M&E coordinator will work closely with the MEAL manager and provide support in designing and implementing MEAL plan.

Duties, objectives and competencies:

  • Coordinate and ensure effective implementation of MEAL plans.
  • Support MEAL manager in the design of methodology, data collection tools, analysis tools, and performance indicator trackers.
  • Organize field team tasks and activities according to the MEAL plan and reporting timelines.
  • Periodic reporting to the MEAL manager on MEAL related issues, and ensure information flow from field to the MEAL manager in line with the reporting requirement of the program.
  • Conduct preliminary data analysis and reporting.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and discussions and ensure communication of feedback and learning results with program staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in MEAL, program management, or related fields, preferably in the context of USG-funded international development programs.
  • Strong knowledge of MEAL principles and practices, and experience in implementing MEAL systems and tools.
  • Strong reporting skills and ability to summarize and compile data into concrete narrative reports.
  • Experience conducting program evaluations, and knowledge of evaluation methods and tools is a favorable.
  • Experience in data analysis and management skills, including proficiency with statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or R is favorable.
  • Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Arabic is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Creative and resourceful approach to developing and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Highly skilled in MS office, secure online communication and data sharing platforms, and mobile data collection platforms.
  • Hard working, proactive and able to prioritize and delegate a demanding workload.
