Research

Field and analytical researches focusing on Civil Society in various regions, but also on socio-economic aspects

Since 2022, the research department at IMPACT has been restructured and relaunched under the name IMPACT Research. Along with a distinct visual identity, the website www.impactres.org was created to allow the department to operate autonomously with a broad mandate. IMPACT Research primarily focuses on political and economic issues in the Middle East and Europe, with a special emphasis on civil society and diaspora-related topics.

In 2025, IMPACT Research was moved formally to be hosted in Himam LLC, an independent Company registered in Damascus, Syria. Himam remains affiliates with IMPACT CSRD e.V. which have access and co-ownership on previous research developed, and build joint papers.

This evolution reflects a deliberate strategy of decentralisation and regional expansion — bringing IMPACT Research closer to the contexts it studies, while preserving the rigour, values, and methodology it was built on. IMPACT Research continues to share strategic direction and methodology with IMPACT CSRD, jointly implementing programmes in research, dialogue, and good governance. This structure gives IMPACT Research the flexibility to engage regional partners, access local funding streams, and respond rapidly to fast-moving contexts — without compromising on independence or quality.

IMPACT’s research aims to reach official decision-makers and also examines influencers across civil society, business, and community leadership. To ensure broad accessibility, all research is published in both Arabic and English, and we make a concerted effort to share research findings and recommendations with relevant actors.

IMPACT Research is supported by a growing network of external expert researchers who produce research collections, policy papers, briefs, and background reports. IMPACT Research acts as a laboratory for new ideas, perspectives, and initiatives, emphasizing local knowledge production through participatory research methods.
